Very unique, but I don’t understand the last sentence and the difference between that and the first sentence, also I have no idea what’s the title about 😅

Hi! The first line refers to a newly-wed couple, a new “us”. In the last two lines, when the child leaves for college, it leaves a hole in the couple’s lives and they become a new “whole” or unit all over a again and must adapt to the new circumstances. The donut is a symbol of their life: it is still a full circle even though the middle has left. Thanks for getting in touch and for reading. I really appreciate it.
