    1. Hi! The first line refers to a newly-wed couple, a new “us”. In the last two lines, when the child leaves for college, it leaves a hole in the couple’s lives and they become a new “whole” or unit all over a again and must adapt to the new circumstances. The donut is a symbol of their life: it is still a full circle even though the middle has left. Thanks for getting in touch and for reading. I really appreciate it.

      1. Oh, goodness, thank you thinking of me. But I think I must decline. I’m not yet comfortable with awards and want to spend some time writing and finding my ‘voice’. I hope that makes sense. Again, thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

      2. I’m glad that you decided to decline, no problem, I just don’t want people accept it with a heavy heart, but I will probably asking you again in the future if you don’t mind ๐Ÿ˜
